Plain Old Social Networking

If you’re like me, you have profiles setup on most of the social networking sites available. So let me ask you a really quick question…why? Why are the social network sites so popular these days? I know that for me, I don’t use them to “make new friends” as many do. I use them for marketing.

It’s very useful to get your site dugg (ok, a play on words from digg.com) , reddit, stumbled (stumbleupon.com), and the many other sites. So how is that good for marketing? Simply because of the traffic those submissions generate. Not to mention the linkbacks. You see, those sites are highly crawled by the big search engines, and so they’ll find a link pointing to your site very fast.

So how many of you are actively marketing your websites the social way?
